This PhD project focusses on the monitoring and surveillance of milk quality and animal diseases. The aim of the project is to study how the efficiency of production can be improved

Data will be collected from a large number of dairy farms in two regions in Indonesia, resulting in a database containing milk quality and dairy cow health.

Risk factors for low milk quality and low health status of the dairy cow herd will be identified. Furthermore, the effect of animal health interventions will be studied. Bio-economic simulation models will be built to study how the efficiency of production can be improved.

The results will be discussed with the participating farmers and regional health authorities.
