Syabilla Rivenia, an MSc student at Quantitative Veterinary Epidemiology chair group of WUR, has started her MSc internship in Indonesia in collaboration with IPB University. Her internship project (25th March to 23rd August 2024) complements the research of Smart-In-Ag PhD candidates Achmad Fadillah and Okta Wismandanu. Her project aims to model the epidemiological and economic effects of several milk quality monitoring schemes implemented in a dairy cooperative in West Java. The output of this internship project would be to determine the cost-benefit of these monitoring schemes, and will be used by PhD candidate Achmad Fadillah.
Syabilla will also conduct fieldwork, assisting PhD candidate Okta Wismandanu, to collect bulk milk samples for screening and interview the farmers for Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus (BVDV) in Indonesian dairy herds in Pangalengan, West Java. Syabilla has obtained a small financial grant from the Smart-In-Ag project to support her travel to Indonesia. We wish Syabilla all the best in conducting her research.
